PVYBL uses 2 different formats for developing our players. All Pre-K through 2nd grade divisions are in the lower division. 4th grade and higher divisions are in the upper division. 3rd grade families are able to select the format that best suits their children. Please carefully review the comparison chart and descriptions below before deciding.
Lower divisions play 3 on 3 half court games on 8' rims. Teams are formed using player/coach requests or school that the child attends. Players are not required to attend or participate in the assessments and the time commitment is 1 hour per week (30-minute practice and 30-minute game). The games are friendlies and we do not track season records or have playoffs.
Upper divisions play 4 on 4 (3rd grade) or 5 on 5 (4th grade and up) full court games on 10' rims. Teams are formed by draft only. No friend/coach requests are accepted. The players are required to attend a mandatory assessment so that every player can be given a score for the draft. The time commitment is 1 hour game on the weekend and 1 mandatory practice during the week. Season records are tracked and there are playoffs at the end of the season.
